INHERITANCE: NORWICH CASTLE OPEN ART SHOW
3 March 2018 - 20 May 2018
Castle Museum & Art Gallery, Norwich
We live with a grand inheritance of architecture and landscape. Many of us treasure objects of personal inheritance that allow memory to endure, making tangible a connection with our ancestry. Less tangibly, we inherit traits, habits and traditions that are important elements of the way we live now.
Inheritance features a captivating range of work, from spectacular images of the region’s renowned land and seascapes to detailed observations of spaces neglected and overlooked. Fantastical imaginings of the world around us are displayed alongside more abstract interpretations of the past. Those who have left their mark are shown in loving portraits as well as by the traces that remain in ancient pathways, churches and military installations. Including painting, sculpture, sound, textiles, film, printmaking and photography, the works show a magnificent range of responses to our theme of inheritance – and are all for sale.
