The Art Club

Interested in starting an art collection, but unsure where to start? Have a love for the arts and want to be more involved in the art scene? Want a better understanding of the market as a whole?

 

For members of the Olympic and friends of the gallery, we now have your answer. Join Kathlene Fox-Davies and Carrie Scott as we host the inaugural Olympic Art Club in Battesea Power Station. Once a month, we bring together art lovers and art collectors to discuss current trends in the art market, artists to watch out for and exhibitions of note. Kathlene and Carrie will also give you practical tips on buying art and help you to navigate access within the art world. Each meeting will be based around a current theme, artist, or exhibition to give members an opportunity to learn about new aspects of the art world and a better understanding of the global art market. 

 

The Olympic welcomes Kathlene Fox-Davies, photography expert, curator and founding director of London based art gallery Black Box Projects, in discussion with Carrie Scott, art historian, independent curator and art consultant. With almost 40 years of cumulative experience in the art world - from private galleries, public institutions and working with artists and collectors of all levels - these women have a wealth of experience to share.  

 

London is a global city, with endless access of arts and culture available through the thousands of galleries, museums, and artists right on our doorstep. Despite the abundance of opportunity for art experiences - accessing artists, galleries and art-world insiders can be an intimidating and overwhelming experience. Alongside group meetings, the Olympic Art Club will offer opportunities for guided gallery tours, private arts events, guest speakers and artist studio visits, as well as help with the search and acquisition of artwork along the way.  

 

With the founding of the The Art Club in Battersea Power Station we hope to create an inclusive community of art collectors, while we break down the stereotypical barriers to the art world and discover the London art scene with a sense of transparency and confidence.

 

The ongoing, Barnes-based, Olympic Art Club will continue to meet monthly in the Olympic Studios, Barnes SW13. Should this location be more convenient, please do contact the gallery for more information.
